Josh Beckett is a Prick

http://scores.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=320510102

If there is one thing that this unabashed Yankee lover can identify with the rival Red Sox fans is the general hate/disdain of Josh Beckett.  What is this guys problem?  He is another elitist-prick douche bag professional athlete who just does not get it.  For the 2012 season he will make $18,750,000 or roughly more than everyone who ever reads this blog post will  in their lifetimes combined.

I want to call attention to one sentence he made during the post game press conference after his stellar (sarcastic) 2.1IP 7R performance last night regarding his recent golf excursion the day after he was scratched from a start with a sore back, “We get 18 off days a year, I think we deserve a little bit of time to ourselves.”  Are you fucking kidding me?!  Only 18 days off a year?!  What planet does this moron exist on?  As a professional athlete he gets 6 months + 18 days off a year, minimum.  But wait, Beckett is a starting pitcher, not a position player, so he actually only participates in approx 30 games a year (29 after skipping a start with a sore back that was not too sore to interrupt his off day plans).  Sure he might still be expected to show up in uniform and attend the game on days when would rather be out with his friends drinking beer, playing video games and eating fried chicken but, oh wait, he still does that too.

As an aforementioned Yankee fan I can not wait to see how this plays out.  We have only seen the tip of the iceberg here, things are going to get a whole lot uglier before they get better.  We’ve only scratched the surface.  Think I’m wrong?  Look at it this way, the fans actually cheered Bobby Valentine last night when he left the dugout to give Beckett the hook marking the first time Bobby V has  ever gotten cheers from the Fenway faithful.  If we are lucky there will be a trip to the DL in the near future and then the sparks will really fly.  I think I’m gonna grab myself a bucket of  the Colonel’s extra crispy, a couple of cold brews, sit back and anxiously watch as the rest of this soap opera plays itself out.  CAN’T WAIT!

PS . Sorry about the F-Bomb Grandma

PS PS.  Grandma if you know what a douche bag is then I’m sorry about that one too

Below is where you can find more audio from his post game press conference

3/13 Boston 1 New York 0

Game Notes:

  • Man it is hard to watch a spring training game, even if it’s New York-Boston, that goes 9 innings of 0-0 baseball. But I did my best.  I was almost glad when Boston scored a run, just so the game wouldn’t end in a tie.
  • Has Bill Hall been cut yet?  I haven’t seen him do anything in the field or at the plate that says he deserves a roster spot with this team.  Hopefully Nunez is ready to go sooner rather than later.
  •  Good solid start out of Nova.  Four innings of shut out ball.  He was up in the zone a little bit but he was spotting his fastball well, had good movement on his breaking balls and effectively mixed in some change-ups.  Barring a melt down, I don’t see any reason why he’s not right on pace to take the ball, at worst, every fourth day.
  • Boone Logan has really impressed me so far this spring.  Another solid 1-2-3 inning out of him yesterday and he faced both righties and lefties.  He looks more and more like he’s going to be a major factor out of the pen and not just the teams obligatory southpaw.  So far this spring he’s got 4IP 2Hits 0Runs 0Walks 6K’s.  Now that’s getting the job done.
  • Another perfect 1-2-3 inning out of Mo and he broke two bats.  This guy is a machine.  He’s gonna be the Yankee we miss the most when he’s gone.
  • Zoilo Almonte was compared to Robbi Cano yesterday.  If by that they meant prone to stupid mistakes in the field and swinging at awful pitches at the plate, then i agree 100%.  I don’t want to be too hard on the kid, he’s only 22 years old and he hopefully  he can deem himself worthy of that comparison, but come on.
  • The David Phelps kid looked pretty good on the mound last night.  He worked fast and went right at the hitters.  He got the loss but it wasn’t his fault the aforementioned Z. Almonte turned what should have been a single into a triple and then let the only run of the game score with a throwing error.  He’ll have to be a guy I keep my eye on down in Scranton or Trenton or wherever he winds up.

Papelbon Rant

http://espn.go.com/boston/mlb/story/_/id/7661787/2012-spring-training-jonathan-papelbon-says-philadelphia-phillies-fans-smarter-boston-red-sox-fans

How the hell can you say that Philly fans are better, or smarter, than Boston fans when you haven’t even played a single game at Citizens Bank Park yet? Spring training is held in Florida, not Philly.Whole different ballgame there.

Now please don’t take this the wrong way.  Don’t misconstrue what I’m saying as me sticking up for Boston in any way, shape or form.  That is not what this is about.  This is about my disdain for one of the biggest douche bags in professional baseball, Jonathan Papelbon. Whom I’ve referred to as “Papeldouche” ever since he did that stupid jig in his underwear after the 2007 World Series.

Keep in mind, this is the moron who thought he should’ve been the closer for the 2008 all-star game at Yankee Stadium, not Mo, despite the fact that Mo was a perfect 23-23 in save opportunities and he (Papeldouche) had already blown four.  The real kicker was that his own manager (Francona) named Mo the closer.

And you’ve actually got a problem with some dude throwing  you his prosthetic leg for an autograph?  That’s freaking awesome!  That dude risked potentially losing a limb (albeit a fake one), which he needs to walk on, just to get you to write your stupid name on it. You’ve got to be a real jerk not to appreciate that level of fan-dom. If some dude that reads my blogs did that to me, I would be so honored that not only would I write my stupid  name on it but I’d also take him out and get him wasted.  And I’m not even a millionaire, or even a thousandaire.  Hell, I’m not even a hundredaire, but I’d still do it out of respect.

What about the Philly fan who got tasered when he ran on the field in 2010, was he smarter than Boston fans?  (watch it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqtPUhYdz6M)

Or how about the Philly fan that intentionally threw up on an 11 yr old girl and her cop father? (read about it here http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/Off-Duty-Officer-Daughters-Assaulted-at-Phillies-Game-90983739.html)

A Philly writer once called for fans to throw D batteries at one of your own teammates! (found here, and i don’t care if it was supposed to be humor, we all know most people are dumb and will basically do whatever they’re told to http://deadspin.com/5780992/
philadelphia-inquirer-encourages-fans-to-throw-batteries-at-bostons-jd-drew
)

You thought a fake leg was bad? At least he wasn’t trying to give you brain damage. I can’t wait to hear what you’ve got to say after you hit a rough patch, blow 3 out of 5 and have to bob and weave your way around a few Duracells yourself.

So if there is anyone who looks stupid here it’s definitely Papelbon.  If I were a Boston fan I’d take his comments as a badge of honor.Oh yea, and one more thing Boston, don’t forget…YOU SUCK!  GO YANKEES!
